SOME 80 witnesses have given information to police investigating the murder of Melbourne mother Kylie Blackwood, a court has been told.

Scott Alan Murdoch, 38, from Morwell in the Gippsland area, is likely to face a committal hearing next year to see if he will stand trial for allegedly killing the 42-year-old woman from Pakenham, in Melbourne’s southeast.

Ms Blackwood’s body was discovered by her 11-year-old twin daughters in 2013 when they returned to their Pakenham home from school.

Murdoch was due to face court on Tuesday for a brief appearance but did not get on the prison bus in the morning, the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard.

Murdoch was arrested in April, almost three years since Ms Blackwood was killed.
