Body discovered in a Melbourne lake

A walker out for a stroll around a popular lake on Thursday has made a disturbing discovery.

A body has been retrieved from a lake in Melbourne’s north.

Police were called to Coburg Lake following reports of a body in the water about 12:30pm on Thursday afternoon.

A walker had raised the alarm when they noticed something in the water.

A body has been found by a walker at Coburg Lake in Melbourne’s north.

The area was closed off while search and rescue divers retrieved the man’s body, which was removed from the scene in a bag.

Investigators said they are currently working to identify the man and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Coburg Lake Reserve is a popular spot for picnics and walking, with riverside paths, BBQs and multiple playgrounds.
