NBA standout Ben Simmons really wants to get rid of his luxury home in California.

The often-injured Brooklyn Nets forward paid $23m (US$17.5m) for the brand new modern farmhouse in 2021. Then he tried to flip it for $32.5m (US$22m) just a year later.

Now, he’s hoping to find a buyer who’s on board with the new $26.86m (US$17.5m) price tag.

However, bids are being accepted on the place in an upcoming, no-reserve auction.

Bids are expected to begin in the $7m-$12m range, according to Realtor.

Bidding will be open from April 18-April 30, if a buyer doesn’t step forward before then.

The past few years have been busy off the court for Simmons. In 2021, he listed his mansion in New Jersey for $6.7m (US$5m) but ended up selling the place for US$4.5m.

And back when he played for the Philadelphia 76ers, he picked up a chic condo that had been on the market as a rental.

In 2022 he was also set to drop $20m on a new home in the famed New York region of ‘Dumbo’, just before his debut with current team the Brooklyn Nets

As for his massive spread that is going under the hammer near the Santa Monica Mountains, the seven-bedroom dwelling is in a class by itself.
This 1,115 sqm property is luxe by every measure, plus private and secure, thanks to the upscale community’s guarded gates.

Created by the architectural firm Nobel LA, the great room and dining space are divided by a floating, brass fireplace that wouldn’t be out of place at a posh ski resort.

Other design details include soaring 12m ceilings, glass walls, reclaimed wood, Preciosa chandeliers, and exposed steel beams.

There are two kitchens — one is a showpiece with sleek wood and marble, while the other is a professional-grade cook space with durable stainless steel and commercial-grade appliances.

Outside, there’s a 20m-long pool, barbecue station, fire pit, and a cabana with a game room.

A gorgeous guesthouse with its own primary suite, chic bath, and plunge pool completes the property.

Simmons, 27, has played in only 57 games in the past three seasons, with injury and off-court issues keeping him on the sidelines.

It comes as many pundits believe the clock is ticking on Ben Simmons’ time in NBA, with Boomers four-time Olympian Shane Heal doubts the former No. 1 draft pick possesses the “passion” and “work ethic” to revive his career.
