DARREN Jolly has revealed his shock and fear at finding he had a brain tumour.

The dual AFL premiership player and star of The Block, with wife Deanne, received the earth-shattering diagnosis after seeking treatment for a headache.

“The headache went for three days straight which didn’t seem right,” he said.

Jolly was forced to go straight to hospital so surgeons could remove the lump from his brain.

He said the tumour had been there for a “long time”, but once it was found, doctors acted swiftly to remove it.

Jolly has two large wounds on his freshly-shaven head from an operation to remove the tumour and the ventriculostomy, which was conducted to drain excess fluid from his brain.

“I’m only 33 — that wasn’t part of the plan,” he said of his diagnosis. “It (the medical report) said brain tumour.

“It was very scary to hear all of that when it’s so sudden.

“It got very serious from that moment because it was so fast,” he told A Current Affair in an interview to air on Monday night.
