Tragedy as model, 27, is found dead at Sydney brewery

The father of the 27-year-old woman who found dead at a brewery in Sydney’s inner west has revealed troubling new details.

Friends have rallied around the family of a young woman who died suddenly at a popular Sydney brewery last week.

Savana Calvo, 27, had been going through “trying times” before her death at the Young Henrys brewery in Newtown, her loved ones have revealed.

The death of Ms Cavlo at about 11.30pm last Wednesday is not being treated as suspicious.

Ms Calvo’s father, Daniel Paul Calvo, says his daughter had been “receiving threats and harassment from individuals”, the Daily Telegraph reported.

“As her father, I knew very well that she was being harassed and stalked and I tried to intervene,” Mr Calvo claimed.

“There’s more and more coming out, she was involved with some dodgy young guys, owed money, and leading up to last week she was getting multiple death threats.

NSW Police are now investigating the circumstances leading up to her death.

“As the matter is before the Coroner, police won’t be making any further comment,” NSW Police said.

Friend Adam St John-Foti has written online about the Calvo family’s heartbreak, describing Savana as a “light into all our lives”.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Savana, 27,” he wrote.

“She was a cherished daughter, sister and friend who brought so much love and light into all of our lives.

“She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

“Those who knew her best, knew that she was went through some trying time these past in recent times that led to her tragic passing.”

Ms Calvo came from well-known stock in Sydney’s and Australia’s music circles.

Her grandfather Peter Calvo founded the Sydney Guitar School in the 1960s, which later evolved into the Australian Institute of Music (AIM).

His son Daniel Paul Calvo, Savana’s father, was also the managing director of AIM.

news.com.au has reached out to Mr Calvo for comment.

Mr St John-Foti has set up a GoFundMe page to help her family cope with funeral costs, which has raied more than $28,000.

He said the Calvos were “spellbound” by the outpouring of support.

“Your generosity will make a meaningful difference in ensuring that Savana is laid to rest with the dignity, respect, and celebration she deserves,” the page reads.

“We also appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support during this difficult time.

“Your kindness means the world to Savana’s family as we navigate through our grief.”

Young Henrys was closed to the public on Thursday and police could be seen outside.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Young Henrys.

A post by another Newtown institution the Coopers Hotel shared a message on its Facebook on Monday.

“It is with heavy hearts that Newtown grieves the loss of a beloved member of its community Savana C,” it wrote.

“Sav’s family has started a go fund me to help with funeral costs, please donate if you can.”

Another friend of Ms Salvo wrote she was a “smiling and a kind gentle soul” who would “be missed so much beautiful lady fly high beautiful angel”.

“I haven’t stopped thinking of you since I found out about your passing ... I will miss you Savvy.”

Another friend said Ms Calvo was “such a darling gorgeous girl”.
