Vodafone looking to go all Google with ‘chat’ and ‘energise’ zones in its new Hobart call centre
THE designers of Vodafone’s Hobart call centre have read the manuals on catering to a Gen-Y workforce.
PING pong tables, spiral tube slides, Xbox and foosball – the designers of Vodafone’s Hobart call centre have read the manuals on how to cater for a Gen-Y workforce.
The telco hopes to open its multi-storey offices on the corner of Argyle and Bathurst streets later this year.
The fitout will also include “chat zones” and meeting “pods”.
Instead of a canteen, the workers will be encouraged to “refuel” in the “energise” zones.
A Vodafone spokesman said the design was based on the most successful elements of the company’s other major centres.
It hoped to boost productivity by making the office a “destination rather than just a place to work”, the spokesman said.
Vodafone plans to employ more than 1300 people at its city and Kingston sites by the middle of next year.
