Severe weather warning, flood warnings issued for Tassie
Flood warnings have been issued for parts of Tasmania as thunderstorm impacted the state overnight. LATEST WARNINGS >>
A minor flood warning has been issued for the Sout Esk River and a road has been closed to flooding after thunderstorms impacted the state overnight.
Ansons Bay Road in the state’s North East has been due to flooding at thecauseway.
A floodwatch is in place for the North East and the Upper East Coast.

“Rainfall totals of 30-60 mm are forecast for the remainder of Monday into Tuesday with higher isolated totals of 80-100 possible at elevated areas,” the Bureau of Meteorology said.
River rises are expected and minor flooding may develop from Tuesday afternoon.
Localised flooding is also possible in areas that receive heavy rainfall from Monday afternoon.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Macquarie River
East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)
Ringarooma River
FLOOD WARNINGS
The following Watches/Warnings are current:
- Minor Flood Warning for the South Esk River
- Flood Watch for the North East and Upper East Coast
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
- Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
- For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
