Tasmania Police said a number of roads had been closed for the race, including parts of the Southern Outlet and Davey St, Huon Rd, Sandy Bay Rd, Byron St, Strickland Avenue, Earl St, York St, Lord St and Summerleas Rd.
It is understood some people missed flights from Hobart Airport becasuse of the traffic delays.
All roads were reopened by 11.30am.
P2P race organisers have been contacted for comment.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a major flood warning for the South Esk River, with a moderate flood warning for the Macquarie River and minor flood warning for the North Esk River.
Initial minor flood warnings have been issued for the Derwent and Jordan rivers.
A severe weather warning remains in place for the South East, North East, East Coast and parts of the Upper Derwent Valley and Midlands.
A road weather alert and sheep graziers alert have been issued.
