REBELS outlaw motorcycle gang members have been targeted on their return to Tasmania this morning, with Tasmania Police conducting a traffic operation within the grounds of the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport.
Acting Inspector Martin Parker, of Devonport Police, said the operation used personnel from Western Road and Public Order Services (RPOS), Devonport Uniform, Western Criminal Investigation Branch, Western Drug Investigation Service and Western Forensic Services, as well as a police drug-detection dog.
Police detected unregistered motorcycles and one suspended rider, while a number of oral fluid tests were conducted on gang members.
Acting Insp Parker said police were awaiting final analytical results of blood tests relating to the oral fluid tests.
“Tasmania Police is committed to disrupting the criminal activities of OMCGs, including the detection of traffic offences,” he said.
“The community can be assured that Tasmania Police will continue to closely monitor OMCG members’ activities and movements. OMCGs will find Tasmania is not receptive to them.”
