ABC Kids host Jimmy Giggle — also known as Jimmy Rees — has made a fleeting visit to Hobart’s Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens ahead of his Carols by Candlelight hosting gig.
Exit Left artistic director Ian Williams said the Hobart Carols, to be held on Sunday, December 18, would be a family event, featuring a mix of traditional carols and up-beat Christmas tunes.
“We’re delighted that Australia’s favourite kids’ TV star Jimmy Giggle will be hosting the carols,” Mr Williams said today.
“From the littlest audience member, watching Santa’s arrival with wide-eyed wonder, to parents and grandparents singing along to Silent Night, the … carols will create a magical night of celebration for every member of the family.
Families are welcome to bring a picnic for their big night out but food vans will also be available on site.
Deputy Lord Mayor Ron Christie said the RTBG — rather than previous venues St David’s Park and Sandown Park at Sandy Bay — was a great location for the annual event.
“It’s the perfect location as people come together to celebrate the festive season, so come along with families and friends and your best caroling voice and sing the night away,” Ald Christie said.
The Botanical Gardens gates will open from 5pm, with pre-show entertainment from 5.30pm.
Carols will begin in earnest at 8pm.
Free tickets will be available online at hobartcarols.com from 9am on Monday, December 12.
