HOLIDAY-MAKERS heading across to Bruny Island have experienced lengthy delays in a post-Christmas rush.
Cars were banked up from the ferry terminal to the Channel Highway, causing signifcant waits for many travellers.
Bruny Island Ferry Company managing director Graeme Phillips said the both the Mirambeena and the MV Bowen were operating at full capacity and said the weather was the main factor in the delays.
“We didn’t have many coming over Christmas and due to the rain yesterday many people have turned out today instead,” he said.
“There are also a lot of caravans and trailers, too, but [the rush] will pass.”
