The Seafarer’s Festival will be held at Bellerive Boardwalk on Sunday and will feature pirates, battleships and a chance to make and race your own wind-powered boat.

Patrons can also learn the official game of the British Navy and take part in hydrodynamic experiments.

Both the Lindisfarne Sailing Club and the Bellerive Yacht Club will offer the opportunity for inexperienced seafarers to have a go at sailing, with small pacer boats or larger keel boats available.

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there will be songs of the sea, gourmet food and more than 30 stalls on show.

Hosted by the Clarence City Council, the event runs from 10.30am to 4pm.
