CHANNEL Ten has released a statement following news Georgia Love’s mother has been admitted to palliative care for ‘aggressive’ cancer, just days ahead of The Bachelorette finale.

Around the same time Love was selected to star in the second season of the dating reality show, her mother Belinda was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, after doctors investigated the cause of her abdominal pain.

Amid the worsening situation, Ten told The Daily Telegraph in a statement: “Georgia and her family are going through a very difficult time with seriously family health issues.”

“They are focusing on supporting each other during this hard time and we kindly ask you to respect their privacy.”

The Bachelorette would have been on a media blitz this week, as the season finale plays out — but it’s now unclear whether the 28-year-old former Tasmanian newsreader will continue with her scheduled commitments.

Her mother’s cancer battle was first pointed to in the premiere episode, where Georgia explained why she’d ditched her journalism job to hunt for ‘The One’ on a reality show.

“I’m doing this because I realise that family and love is what is important at the end of the day,” the star said during the episode.

Georgia and her mother then shared a touching moment, where Belinda explained: “I think, especially with everything you’re going through at the moment, and have been through, I’ve seen what it’s like to be loved.

“Seeing how Dad has been with you has made me realise how important family is.”

The Bachelorette finale will air on Thursday 7.30pm on Channel Ten.
