NEW Norfolk has come to life with everything medieval today as part of the Derwent Valley Medieval Festival.
NEW Norfolk has come to life with everything medieval today as part of the Derwent Valley Medieval Festival.
Frocks, forging and general frivolity have been all the rage at Kensington Park which was been converted into a pop-up village with castle entry gates, banquet hall and a stage for music.
The festival included a lords’ tournament, skill at arms war horses, fencing, archery, blacksmiths and pottery, as well as market stalls with local produce and food vans with authentic medieval food.
As part of the Halloween weekend, a church and graveyard were also set up to host medieval ghost stories.
Organiser Maree Rieper said about 2000 came through the gates, with the event declared a success.
“Some of the highlights were the demonstrations so the archery, horses and fencing were some of the best,” Ms Rieper said.
