THE Mercury’s Falls Festival Foster Band, Jensen, is getting ready to rock Marion Bay this summer after today being announced as the sole winner of this year’s Foster Band competition.
Thousands of music lovers across the country cast their votes throughout October, with folk-rock band Jensen — Harry Jensen, Oscar Bosch, Andrew Moore and Nathan Nyhuis — securing more votes than competing Tasmanian acts Kingfall (fostered by The Advocate), Lazer Baby (WARP) and Zeolite (The Examiner).
Jensen won the right to perform on one of the popular festival’s main stages next month, alongside the likes of headline acts Childish Gambino, London Grammar and The Avalanches.
The group’s success continues a long winning streak for the Mercury, with our previous Foster Bands The Mornings (2011), the Christopher Coleman Collective (2012), Lulu and the Paige-Turners (2013), Verticoli (2014) and Close Counters (2015) all going on to perform at Marion Bay.
“It’s always great to see the best up-and-coming Tassie acts getting involved each year,” Falls co-producer Paul Pitticco said.
“The quality of artists competing and playing at the festival is amazing, showcasing the best the state has to offer to a national audience of music lovers.”
