THE Derwent Valley has been left off two visitor trails based on Australian television shows The Kettering Incident and Rosehaven, despite both shows being filmed in the region.

THE Derwent Valley has been left off two visitor trails based on Australian television shows The Kettering Incident and Rosehaven, despite both shows being filmed in the region.

Tourism Tasmania’s “Go Behind the Scenery” initiative provides advice on exploring the state through visitor trails, including where The Kettering Incident and Rosehaven were filmed.

The Kettering Incident was in part filmed at the Westerway Road House, Mt Field National Park, Sorell Creek, Willow Court and various streets around New Norfolk, including the former high school hostel that was presented as a police station.

As for Rosehaven, sites included High and Circle streets at New Norfolk as well as at Lachlan.

However, trails for both shows omit the Derwent Valley from their recommended locations to visit.

Derwent Valley Mayor Martyn Evans said it was frustrating the valley wasn’t included, given about half of each program was set in the region.

“It was disappointing to see that, we should be acknowledged for that,” he said.

“There is that feeling of being left off the map again.”

Cr Evans added that he wanted to form greater partnerships with Tourism Tasmania and Destination Southern Tasmania ahead of any future seasons for both programs.

“We need robust discussions with Tourism Tasmania on this,” he said.

A Tourism Tasmania spokesman said a number of stories were planned around the Rosehaven series.

“Tourism Tasmania ... are working closely with the producers in relation to the release of stories highlighting locations, including the Derwent Valley,” he said.
