Premier Jeremy Rockliff says the government recognises that Tuesday’s CoI report release “may evoke strong emotions, questions, and concerns for many” as he stressed the variety of support available at Parliament House, online and via telephone.

The final report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings will be tabled in parliament, and made available online, at about 12.30pm.

Its eight volumes run to more than 3,000 pages and contains 75 findings and 191 recommendations.

Mr Rockliff released a statement on Tuesday morning saying the government “recognises the release of the report... may evoke strong emotions, questions, and concerns for many people in our community”.

“When the report is released, counsellors from Lifeline Tasmania, the Sexual Assault Support Service, Laurel House and Relationships Australia Tasmania will be at Parliament House to provide support,” he said.

“The government has also ensured a range of support services are available to the broader Tasmanian community.

“Additional resources have been provided to local support services over the course of the Commission of Inquiry, with the Tasmanian Government investing an additional $1.5m in these services ahead of the tabling and public release of the report.”
