Two new locally acquired Covid-19 cases reported in SA as exposure site list grows
The risk surrounding a Coles and Woolworths has been downgraded as this state recorded two new locally acquired cases on Thursday.
South Australia has recorded two new locally acquired coronavirus cases on Thursday, but both are in quarantine.
The two cases are both linked to the Modbury cluster that has now grown to 21 cases.
Over the past two days, the state recorded zero new infections.
Chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier said one case was a woman in her 80s who remains in a stable condition, while the second was a man in his 40s who is a family member of a previous case.
The figures come as exposure sites were downgraded after further investigations.
The dining hall at Westminster School in Marion and Burnside Village — except Zara, Angelakis Brothers, Baker’s Delight, Dumpling Lab and Village Baker — in Glenside are no longer tier 1 locations and are now classified as tier 2.
Coles Express at Fairview Park, Woolworths along Kensington Rd at Marryatville, and Whistle and Flute Cafe at Unley have been downgraded from tier 1 sites to tier 3.
Previous tier 2 locations at Greenwith Primary School oval and the 100 Block at Westminster School are now considered tier 3.
The McDonald’s restaurant in Felixstow has been downgraded to a tier 4 location after it was initially listed as a tier 1 site.
About 20,000 people who have been identified at an exposure site, but not all of them are required to isolate.
Professor Spurrier said even though the state had come out of lockdown and she was “comfortable” that the necessary people were in isolation, it was still possible for the virus to circulate within the community.
She said it was “critical” that people who were quarantining completed their 14 days, and there remained a level of risk because of the ongoing outbreak in NSW.
