Two fishermen are recovering in hospital after being pulled from the water by a good samaritan.

A large-scale search operation for the men was launched after they failed to return from checking their craypots in the waters off South Australia’s Boatswain Point, about 330km south of Adelaide.

An alarm was raised just before 2.30pm, with SES volunteers, local fishermen, the South Australian water police, a helicopter and Challenger aircraft scouring the coastline for the pair.

“The men were airlifted from the beach to awaiting ambulances to be taken to hospital for medical treatment after their ordeal.

“Their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.”
