“The bones will be examined by a forensic anthropologist, and it will take some time for forensic results to be available,” a SA Police spokesman said.

“Further information will be provided once more details are known.”

The Kadina Cemetery is a heritage-listed cemetery about 150km northwest of Adelaide, on the Yorke Peninsula.

A spokesman for the District Council of the Copper Coast, which operates the cemetery, said the police were in charge of the investigation.

“All questions regarding this matter are to be directed to SAPOL,” a council spokesman said.
