Remains in hidden bunker identified as missing father Steve Murphy
Two men have been charged over the murder of a man whose body was found buried in a bunker.
Two men have been charged after human remains of a missing father were found in an underground bunker.
On Tuesday, Major Crime Investigation Branch detectives searched a property in Kudla, north of Adelaide, for the remains of Steven Murphy, who had been missing for several weeks.
Inspector Mark McEachern said SA Police discovered the remains in a hole under a shed at the property after a tip-off regarding Mr Murphy’s disappearance.
He was last seen in the area on Wednesday, February 15.
Police previously discovered 20 cannabis plants, a rifle and ammunition at the property and arrested a 46-year-old man at the home.
He was charged with firearms offences and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
On Thursday, the 46-year-old was charged with Mr Murphy’s murder, alongside a 19-year-old Kudla man.
They will both remain in custody to appear in court at a later date.
On Tuesday, members of the SES assisted police with excavating equipment and uncovered Mr Murphy’s remains under a “significant amount of dirt”.
