Reeco Pizzino: Teen hit by car in Adelaide two weeks ago dies
A 15-year-old boy who was hit by a car in a horrific incident in Adelaide earlier this month has tragically died overnight.
A teenager who was hit by a car two weeks ago Adelaide has tragically died overnight.
Reeco Pizzino, 15, was struck by a Holden sedan on Payneham Road in Glynde, in the city’s eastern suburbs, on Tuesday, April 13.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene — at the intersection of Shirley Avenue — just before 6pm.
The Felixstow teen was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with life threatening injuries.
He died at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old female driver from Hectorville, was also taken to Modbury Hospital with minor injuries.
The Felixstow Community School — where Reeco was a past student — took to social media announcing the news “with great sadness”.
He was remembered as an active member of the school community who built great connections with the staff.
“He will be remembered as an enthusiastic, passionate student who relished opportunities to support younger students and build his leadership skills,” the post read.
“Reeco continued to visit us regularly at Felixstow up until the end of last term to let us know how he was going at high school and share his future goals with us we will not ever forget his contributions to our community.
“We know that you will all share with us our thoughts for his family.”
The East Torrens Redsox Baseball Club also remembered the junior player as a “popular and well liked teammate”.
“He was a popular and well liked teammate and his last hit was a home run in U17s showing off his speed on the bases,” the club said.
“There truly are no words. It was such a joy to see him visit the school regularly and how he kept in touch with everyone. Sending our love and thoughts to all his family and friends,” person wrote in response.
“Absolutely heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with his family at this devastating time,” another person said.
“Your mateship, your commitment, endeavour, and humour will be missed Reeco … and that smile, always smiling #RIP77,” a third comment read.
