Mum dead, son in hospital after Adelaide house fire
A mum has been found dead inside a house that was engulfed by flames in a fierce blaze that has left her son in hospital.
A mother’s body has been found inside a house that was engulfed in flames in Adelaide’s north.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at a home on Broughton Rd in Elizabeth Vale about 3.45am on Thursday.
When first responders arrived, the home was filled with smoke and paramedics rushed a 54-year-old man suffering from smoke inhalation to hospital.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found the body of a 72-year-old woman inside the property.
“The fire is not believed to be suspicious and fire cause investigators will attend the scene to examine the circumstances of the fire,” a police spokesman said.
A neighbour told the Adelaide Advertiser a mother and son lived at the property and were lovely people.
Rob Coleman said the son was a carer for his mother and it was a very sad tragedy to occur so close to Christmas.
“We only saw them walking the dog last night,” Rob Coleman told the masthead.
“He’s such a good bloke.”
Police urged anyone with information or who witnessed the fire to contact Crime Stoppers.
