Man who drunkenly abused Tiger Airways flight attendants given stern warning before release
A man who drunkenly lashed out at flight attendants on board a Tiger Airways flight over a minor issue has been given a stern warning by as judge.
A man who drunkenly abused flight attendants on-board a domestic flight from Sydney has been granted home detention bail.
Dominic Bol Bol, 29, was charged with assault or threaten a member of aircraft crew on-board after he refused to hand over a bottle of aloe vera juice to staff on a Tiger Airways flight from Sydney to Adelaide in August 2019.
He was sentenced to six months jail earlier this year.
Bol Bol fronted the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday via video conference.
Magistrate Jayne Samia Basheer granted a $500 bail and told Bol Bol the conditions were “quite strict”.
“It seems there’s no reason why Mr Bol Bol should not be released on home detention bail,” she said.
“If you breach it, you will struggle to get bail.”
The prosecution did not dispute the arrangements.
Earlier this month, Bol Bol lodged a Supreme Court appeal and asked to be released on bail while he waited for a decision.
In past appearances, the court was told Bol Bol was drunk and carried bottles of alcohol and aloe vera juice when he boarded the plane on August 29.
After he refused to hand over the bottle to staff, it was taken from him.
He loudly said to the attendant “f**k off, give me back my bottle”, stood up and walked towards the front of the plane.
Bol Bol then tried to move towards the cockpit, continually asking for his bottle back and waving his arms, clenching his fists and pushing crew members around.
He later returned a blood-alcohol level of .240 after being arrested by Australian Federal Police officers once the plane landed.
Bol Bol is due to reappear in court in April.
