A man has been charged after police made an alleged shocking discovery on a rural property in the Australian outback.
A man has been charged after police made an alleged shocking discovery buried on a rural property in the Aussie outback.
The search was conducted as part of an investigation into a firearms theft alleged to have been committed on a Quorn property, in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges region, in July 2023.
With the assistance of police dogs and detectives from the Far North CIB patrol, officers from the Serious Firearm Crime Investigation Section allegedly located a cache of rifles, ammo and other firearm accessories beneath a wool bale and logs.
A total of five rifles and one pistol were dug up by officers conducting the search.
Another 15 packs of ammunition and a variety of other firearm attachments and accessories were also allegedly unearthed.
A man, 33, was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, aggravated possession of a prescribed firearm, four counts of aggravated possession of a firearm without a licence and breaching an intervention order.
Its currently not understood which, if not all, of the rifles were allegedly stolen, although police confirmed they will all be forensically examined as investigations continue.
He was also refused bail and attended Port Augusta Magistrates Court on Friday.
The Flinders Ranges is a five-hour drive north of Adelaide as is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, formed over 600 million years ago
In 2021 Tarikjot Singh abducted his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Jasmeen Kaur, from her Adelaide workplace before driving her Moralana Creek near Hawker in the Flinders Ranges and burying her alive.
Last year he was handed 23 years for her murder.
