Gather Round has arrived and is set to inject tens of millions into the economy and bring intertate and overseas visitors to SA. So, what’s the weather going to be like for the rest of the festival of footy?
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has forecast a string of sunny spring days for the next few days.
Friday, April 5, is forecast to be a sunny 24C with southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h in the morning and easing off in the afternoon.
Saturday, April 6, is another sunny day of 24C – with southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h in the morning and easing off in the afternoon.
On Sunday, the clouds will start gathering again but temperatures will remain a top of 22C.
Things cool down a bit on Monday, April 8, with a chance of rain and a maximum of 21C.
Peak business groups say key indicators show this year’s Festival of Footy is expected to outshine the inaugural event, which injected more than $83m into the state economy and generated over 150,000 visitor nights.
Hotel occupancy is already above 80 per cent for this weekend and more than 100,000 are expected to attend the Macca’s Footy Festival site in Elder Park, up from 80,000 last year.
