Former Adelaide Auslan interpreter Mikey Webb hit with bird poo, handles it like a pro
Adelaide’s own much-loved Auslan interpreter was the target of an unexpected aerial assault during a Queensland flood update, but he handled it like a pro.
Depending on which way you look at it, Mikey Webb is either the luckiest – or unluckiest – interpreter in the country right now.
The popular Auslan expert, who is originally from Adelaide, found himself in the firing line in Brisbane on Wednesday when a huge glob of bird poo hit him in the shoulder and face at a live Queensland government press conference.
Standing next to Deputy Premier Steven Miles, Mr Webb was in the middle of signing when he was stopped in his tracks by the unexpected aerial assault.
The assailant – identified as an owl – quickly left the scene. Authorities were unable to follow on foot.
That said, it was going to take more than that to stop Mr Webb from doing his job.
Almost without missing a beat, he wiped away the mess and shunned his soiled jacket.
He then got on with the rest of the presser like the absolute legend he is.
Later, Mr Miles nervously quipped that he would be answering the media’s questions very quickly.
Nothing stops our fabulous Mikey.

He stands by my side, he stands by Queenslandâs side.
By the way, it was an owl ð¦ pic.twitter.com/QPiqai5JSx
I'm relieved it's not his spiffy dusky pink jacket from yesterday

Mr Webb has fronted hundreds of press conferences in Queensland over the past couple of years with his signature man bun.
He grew up with deaf parents and relatives, meaning sign language has always been a big part of his life.
