An elderly man will face court following the death of a pedestrian after she was allegedly hit by his car.

The 37-year-old Christie Downs woman died at the scene about 3.30pm on Saturday after she was hit by a Kia sedan along Westmoreland Road in Morphett Vale, in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

The 79-year-old alleged driver was taken to Flinders Medical Centre as a precaution and has since been reported for causing death by dangerous driving.

In South Australia, a person must be physically present at a charging station to be charged, but in some cases they can be officially reported instead, and issued with a court summons.

There were two other pedestrians also injured in the crash, a 36-year-old woman from Morphett Vale and a 78-year-old woman from Morphett Vale, who were also taken to Flinders Medical Centre with minor injuries.

Westmoreland Road was temporarily closed as Major Crash investigated but has reopened.

The woman’s death brings the state’s road toll to 68, compared to 84 at this time last year.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
