Elderly man dies after collapsing on top of moving car at McDonald’s drive-through

An elderly man has died in hospital following a freak accident in the drive-through of a McDonald's restaurant.

An elderly man has died in hospital after he fell onto a slow-moving car at a McDonald’s drive-through in Adelaide’s inner south.

The 89-year-old man from Kingswood slipped on the kerb before hitting his head on the Toyota sedan that was exiting the drive-through of the South Rd restaurant at Melrose Park at about midday on Wednesday.

The man was taken to Flinders Medical Centre with minor injuries but died late Thursday morning.

SA Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man’s death is the fourth life lost on SA roads in 2021, against one at the same time last year.
