CFS issues total fire bans with hot, dry and windy conditions in parts of South Australia
The frightening combination of hot, dry and windy conditions in parts of SA has forced the CFS to issue a Total Fire Ban.
An extreme heatwave across South Australia has prompted the Country Fire Service to declare a total fire ban for Saturday.
The order applies to the Mount Lofty Ranges, Murraylands and both the Upper South East and the Lower South East for a 24 hour period – until midnight on Saturday.
Residents in these areas are urged to action their Bushfire Survival Plans immediately, whether it’s to stay inside a well constructed house which is fit to combat a fire or if it’s to consider the option of leaving early.
The CFS reminds people that only well constructed and well prepared homes – stocked with essential services in the case regular supplies are disrupted – are likely to offer safety during a fire.
More Coverage
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Adelaide’s metropolitan areas are expected to reach a maximum temperature of 36C and experience partly cloudy conditions.
Mount Lofty Ranges will climb to a top of 38C, Murraylands reaching 40C, and the South East region will vary between the mid to high 30s.
Across all these areas, the hot temperatures will be paired with dry conditions and strong, gusty winds.
