A McDonald’s has been evacuated after a man allegedly left a backpack in the restaurant, claiming there was a bomb inside.

A man has been arrested after a McDonald’s in Adelaide’s southeast was evacuated due to an alleged bomb threat.

Police were called to the fast food chain in Salisbury Plains about 7.45pm Wednesday after a man allegedly left a bag inside the building, allegedly telling customers and staff there was a bomb inside.

The McDonald’s was quickly evacuated and police detained the 44-year-old man.

“Technicians from the Bomb Response Unit attended and determined that there were no explosives in the bag,” police said in a statement.

No injuries were reported.
The man from Parafield Gardens was arrested at the scene and charged with creating a false threat.

He was refused bail and is set to appear before Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
