The 74-year-old man who died in a tragic house fire overnight has been identified, with his grandson remembering him as a ‘great guy’.

The man who died in a tragic house fire overnight has been identified as 74-year-old Henry Fielke.

Mr Fielke perished at a Gilles Plains property in Adelaide’s northern suburbs early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a neighbour reported the property was on fire.

The home was engulfed in flames when the police and fire crews arrived, the police said on Sunday morning.

Firefighters retrieved an unconscious Mr Fielke from inside the home but he died at the scene.

Mr Fielke’s grandson Hayden has remembered his grandfather as a “great guy”.

“He was a sensitive old man,” Hayden said.

“It’s really sad what happened.”

Investigators attended the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

The police do not believe the fire is suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
