Fears are growing for elderly citizens in aged care after the latest mystery case recorded at Arcare Maidstone.

So far, Australia has recorded a total of 910 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, with 685 of those coming from aged care homes. Victoria holds the overwhelming majority of that tally, recording 655 deaths in aged care facilities.

Melbourne is currently in its fourth lockdown with fears the restriction period will be extended on the back of new cases. Five new community cases were recorded on Monday morning after over 43,000 tests were returned on Sunday.

The total active tally has now risen to 51.
