Girls who escaped Nigerian terror group Boko Haram have described the physical torture, rape and forced marriage that many endure in their secret forest camps.

Some victims are also forced to take part in attacks and carry ammunition for fighters during battle. Others have been used as ‘bait’ to lure Christian men to their deaths.

The abuse is detailed in a Human Rights Watch report, which includes first-hand accounts from some of the schoolgirls who escaped after April’s Chibok kidnappings.

A high-speed rail line between Melbourne and Brisbane could be built for half the previously estimated $114 billion price tag, a new study estimates.

Research commissioned by the Australasian Railway Association, found the 1748km line could actually be built for $35 million a kilometre, or $63 billion all up.

The study, launched at a forum on high-speed rail at Parliament House in Canberra yesterday, said the price drop was based on current international construction costs.

A previous Federal Government study released two years ago had put the final price at $114 billion.

Prosecutors say they will appeal Oscar Pistorius’s five-year jail term and culpable homicide verdict for the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

“NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) will be appealing both the conviction and sentence,” spokesman Nathi Mncube said.

Details of the appeal have not yet released, but South African criminal lawyers have expressed shock that the judge found Pistorius could not have foreseen that someone would die when he fired four shots through a locked toilet door.

Radcliffe seemed astonished, answering: “WOW. Um... that’s a really good question. First of all, congratulations to you for asking me a Harry Potter question I have NEVER been asked before, that is not easily achieved!”

“I would say... I was gonna say my iPod, prolly put it in that, but I would put it inside an album on the iPod, so you’d have to open that album. So I somehow want it to be connected to a particular album that means something, like Ziggy Stardust. So that’s how I’d want to do that.”

A UK developer is designing a plane that has giant OLED screens instead of windows that could be a reality in just over 10 years.

The Centre for Process Innovation has released a YouTube video showing concept art for the technology, which looks impressive but also a little scary.

Removing the windows would actually make the plane more fuel efficient because it would reduce the weight of the aircraft, according to The Guardian.

The lightweight, flexible screens would give passengers a view of where they are flying, with the scene captured by cameras attached to the outside of the plane.

The screen could also be used to display other information such where other aircraft are located.
