One of the neighbours told Nine it had been apparent how bad the fire had become and how quickly.

“There were embers going all the way up to at least as high as some of these trees,” he said.

“We didn‘t really think twice, we just went down the side, we found him there and we just had to carry him out.”

One person was also found unconscious after a suspicious fire on Wednesday in Murrumba Downs north of Brisbane.

The fire took 35 hours to bring under control, with neighbours telling Nine they heard a “huge bang” before the blaze.
