Two men charged as police search for two more after fatal stabbing
Two men have been charged with murder after an alleged gang member was stabbed and killed in broad daylight.
Two men have been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of an alleged bikie member in broad daylight earlier this week as Queensland Police continue their search for two more men.
Just before 1pm on Monday, Levi Johnson, 23, was driving a white Mercedes on Pine Mountain Rd in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield when he was approached by two other vehicles, a black Audi A3 and a white Nissan Patrol.
Mr Johnson was then pulled from his car and assaulted by four men, who left him with fatal stabbing injuries.
Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to revive Mr Johnson, pronouncing him dead as a result of his injuries.
Later that afternoon, a 34 year-old East Brisbane man was taken into custody after being arrested by dog squad officers.
After being charged with weapons offences on Wednesday, he was later charged with murder and appeared in court. He has been remanded in custody until later this month.
Another 34-year-old Birkdale man was on Wednesday taken into custody to assist with inquiries. He was charged with murder later that evening.
Police are still searching for two men they believe are suspects in the murder – Thomas Myler, 35, and Kyle Martin, 24.
Members of the public who may have seen the two men, or know of their whereabouts, are encouraged to call triple-0.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said both Mr Martin and Mr Myler had claimed to be part of a gang called “13 Kings” and were possibly armed.
“It is in the interests of public safety that these two people are brought into custody as soon as possible,” Superintendent Massingham said.
He revealed further information about the assault, alleging the men in the two other cars had been following Mr Johnson as he drove to a carpark to seek refuge.
“It appears that the four individuals that were (allegedly) responsible were conducting some surveillance of the victim shortly before the incident at Mansfield,” Superintendent Massingham said.
Floral tributes have been left at the site of the stabbing.
The 34 year-old East Brisbane man is expected to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
