JOHNNY Depp’s wife Amber Heard will have to return to the Gold Coast in April to go to trial over allegations she illegally smuggled their dogs into Australia.
Heard’s case was mentioned in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning following the international scandal surrounding the alleged illegal importation of her two terriers Pistol and Boo.
Her barrister Paula Moureau requested the matter be set down for a five-day trial to allow the 12 Crown witnesses to give evidence.
She also asked that correspondence sent from Ashurst Lawyers to the court yesterday be kept secret and only viewed by the magistrate.
It remains unknown whether Johnny Depp will be called as a witness in the case.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan raised concerns about the length of the trial, suggesting it could be done in a shorter period of time.
“Is this the dogs is it?” he asked.
“I take it you’ve conferred and tried to settle the thing?”
Mr Callaghan set the trial down for four days starting on April 18, a date requested by Heard’s lawyers and the prosecutor.
Heard will remain at large until her next court appearance.
