The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Showjumping to showcase some of Australia’s best riding talent
Australia’s richest horse sale is just one element of the glittering Magic Millions carnival which will include racing, showjumping and polo and feature some of the world’s top equestrians.
Showjumping returns to The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions carnival in 2025 with a line up of world class riders and a bumper prize pool of $1.535 million.
And as the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games draw ever closer the three events will be a great chance for some of the sport’s rising stars to compete and show off their skill to a broad audience.
Magic Millions co-owner, Katie Page said the competitors who will line up on January 5 at Queensland’s Gold Coast are world class.
“The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be spectacular and every year the Magic Millions Showjumping gives us all a sneak preview of the brilliance that awaits us,” Ms Page said.
“Our Seniors’ teams include some of Australia’s best showjumpers and our Juniors are super competitive and will be making their mark on our Olympic teams in the years to come.”
Riders include Sky Racing presenter and Magic Millions ambassador Ally Mosley who has been given a wildcard entry into the Queensland Off The Track cup.
She is riding Gerry who, like all the entrants, is a retrained racehorse.
“For me the Magic Millions showcases what we do as an industry to the broader community,” she said. “People who haven’t come to any equine events before can see, not just racing or even showjumping but also polo and watch Olympic quality riders,” she said.
The show jumping prize pool is also bigger and better than ever with contributions from some of the racing industry’s well known names including Coolmore’s Tom and Sophie Magnier and The Huddy family from Peachester Lodge.
The Seniors teams will compete for prizes worth up to $1.45 million while the Junior category includes $10,000 in prize money.
Some of the younger riders include the Magnier’s son Charlie. His mother Sophie said, while Coolmore is known for racing and breeding thoroughbreds their backyard is also home to their children’s ponies and showjumpers.
“Our family has been to every Magic Millions on the Gold Coast for the past twenty years or more,” Ms Magnier said.
“While our week at the Yearling Sales is integral to our business, we can take our children and they have a fantastic time. They are passionate showjumpers – Charlie has qualified and competed in the Juniors class since inception and Evie is keen to follow in his footsteps.
She said it is also a great chance to rub shoulders with some of the international horse world’s stars including King Charles’s niece Zara Tindall and Argentina’s polo king Nacho Figueras.
Katie Page said the polo is bound to be another highlight of this year’s carnival.
“Our first Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo was hosted in 2017 and almost every year since you know the exact moment in the afternoon when Team Nacho and Team Zara take to the field. The entire crowd lines every inch of the fence to see who takes home this year’s trophy.”
