Queensland man dead after base jump goes wrong

A 57-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a ‘long fall’ in Queensland, understood to be a base jump gone wrong.

The 57-year-old was found by paramedics on Tully Gorge Road, near Cardstone on the Cassowary Coast, around 10.45am on Wednesday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man suffered injuries in a “long fall”.

“The patient was assessed for critical injuries at the scene,” the spokesperson said.

The man was rushed to hospital by helicopter, but could not be saved.

“I can confirm that a man has been located deceased,” a police spokesperson said.
