PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk says she cannot guarantee the next election will be fought along new electoral boundaries due to be revealed by the Queensland Redistribution Commission in coming days.

The commission’s draft report on new state electorate boundaries, including the location of four new seats, is due by the end of the month.

The final boundaries will not be in place until the second half of this year.

When asked if she could guarantee the election would be fought on the new boundaries, Ms Palaszczuk said it was her intention to call the election next year.

“I can’t say that for sure. Those boundaries haven’t even come out yet,” she said.

“What I can say is that my whole Cabinet team is focused on the Budget.”

Meanwhile, the Queensland Government will mark one year until the 2018 Commonwealth Games by holding a week-long community cabinet meeting on the Gold Coast in April.

Ms Palaszczuk says the initiative will be preceded by a meeting with Games bosses on the Gold Coast on April 3.

Ms Palaszczuk says the week will provide a chance for Gold Coast residents to meet with her ministers and discuss issues ahead of next year’s Games.
