MP Llew O’Brien fractures skull in motorbike accident
The Queensland politician has revealed horrific injuries sustained in a motorbike accident.
Federal MP Llew O’Brien was rushed to hospital with skull and spinal fractures after a terrifying crash in Queensland.
The Member for Wide Bay was riding with friends at Lakeside Raceway in Kurwongbah in Brisbane’s north on Saturday morning, when he was thrown from his motorbike.
Mr O’Brien spent the night at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and was still recovering on Sunday morning, he told family and friends in a post on a private social media account.
“Had a good day on the bikes with William and Michael at Lakeside Raceway yesterday,” the federal MP said.
“Well mine wasn’t a full day after I overdid a section of the track and went down.
“Bit of bruising, strains and soft tissue injuries, a fractured skull and vertebrae for me.”
The LNP politician said he would have to wear a neck brace for six weeks.
“Not sure how that’s going to go chairing parliament,” he posted.
“Other than that all good and should be out of hospital soon.”
Queensland Transport Minister Mark Bailey shared the news on Twitter and said he was “very sorry to hear” of the frightening injuries.
“Wishing him all the best for full and speedy recovery,” he said.
