KATTER’s Australian Party’s state leader Robbie Katter has not ruled out forming government with either Labor or the LNP but said there would be strict “non-negotiables” for North Queensland if he did.

Mr Katter, who yesterday had secured more than 65 per cent of the vote in Traeger, said he would be talking to both sides of government and doing whatever the party could to secure the best outcome for the North.

“That could take any form,” he said. “There will be some non-negotiables in there. The rail line in the Galilee (Basin) has to be built by the Government and Hell’s Gate Dam has to be built.”

Mr Katter, whose party has two confirmed seats (Traeger and Hill) in parliament with a third (Hinchinbrook) possible, said energy prices would also have to be addressed.

“Those are the three top ones,” he said.

“We wouldn’t talk to one side without the other. It will be irresponsible if we didn’t use that power to try and help all of Queensland with energy pricing and to tell the Government to get their greedy hands off it.”

Mr Katter reiterated his party’s opposition to Labor’s Cross River Rail project in Brisbane and would demand it be scrapped.
