Police are searching for the suspect after a woman, 63, was approached by a man who told her she had a flat tyre at Eastlake St, Carrara, yesterday.
While she was looking at the tyre he grabbed a bag with money in it but the woman refused to let go, and consequently was dragged along the ground for about 15 metres.
Shocking footage shows the man pulling the woman along part of Eastlake St before she lets go of the bag and he runs off.
Paramedics treated the woman at the self-storage complex for grazes, bruises and small lacerations to her back, arms, legs, feet and ankles.
The man jumped into a waiting white vehicle, being driven by another man, and they fled the scene heading north along Eastlake St.
The woman lost cash, credit cards, mobile phone and personal items.
The man is described as having a dark complexion, approximately 170cms tall and possibly aged in his early 20s.
He was wearing a grey hooded jumper.
Police have no suspects at this stage and are urging anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
