A FEMALE paramedic was allegedly bashed by a “heavily intoxicated’’ teenage woman at a popular Brisbane hotel on Sunday night after being called to her aid.

Ambulance officers attended an emergency call at the Regatta Hotel to treat an unconscious person found by other patrons in a bathroom.

The 19-year-old patient was heavily intoxicated, vomiting and was unable to stand.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said that shortly after moving her to an ambulance, she allegedly “came to’’ and was “in a very violent state’’.

He said the patient punched the female paramedic several times, leaving her with a swollen face and scratch marks on an arm.

A male paramedic who also attended was unharmed.

The female paramedic was taken to Mater Private Hospital in a stable condition.

She was later discharged from hospital with bruising to the face.

The female patient was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital.

Regatta Hotel management declined to comment on this incident.

Meanwhile, two other paramedics were also allegedly assaulted in a separate incident on Sunday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the officers did not receive any injuries, following an altercation at the Landsborough Pub on the Sunshine Coast about 6.30pm.

The latest incidents comes as Health Minister Cameron Dick orders the state’s paramedics to undergo “enhanced” tactical training, in the wake of rising assaults.

Mr Dick last week asked the task force considering the way to tackle violence against paramedics to fast-track their interim report and deliver it by the end of this month.

“All paramedics — including current personnel and new officers — will undertake an enhanced training package that has been developed in consultation with experts from the Queensland Police Service Operational Skills and Tactics Unit,’’ Mr Dick said.

“The new training package will cover key areas such as threat assessment, tactical communication and de-escalation, tactical withdrawal and defensive techniques.”

In 2013-14, there were 160 physical assaults and 33 verbal assaults on paramedics.

During the 2014-15 financial year, those figures climbed to 170 and 56, respectively.

United Voice secretary Gary Bullock said the ambulance union had stepped up the pressure on the Government for greater access to a patient’s personal data prior to them attending a job.

A rally of dozens of ambulance officers and their families was held outside a Gold Coast court last week calling for an end to violence against paramedics.

This came as a man faced Southport Magistrates Court charged over the brutal bashing of a paramedic at Coomera last month.

Earlier it was reported: TWO paramedics have allegedly been assaulted by a female patron at a well-known Brisbane hotel.

Emergency services were at the Regatta Hotel, in Toowong, on Sunday night, to attend to a woman in need of medical attention.

It has been alleged the patient has assaulted a male and female ambulance officers.

The female paramedic was taken from the scene on a stretcher.

All three people are currently being assessed in hospital.
