Tributes flow for mother, daughter killed in tragic Qld crash
Tributes are flowing for a mother and her 12-year-old daughter, who were killed in a horrific crash involving a truck in Queensland.
A fundraising campaign has been set up for a mother and daughter killed in a horrific car accident near Queensland’s Mount Irving last week.
Jessica, 29, and Giselle Greig, 12, died when the SUV they were travelling in collided with a truck on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road on Thursday morning.
Jessica’s husband and Giselle’s dad Alex is still fighting for life in hospital. Two young girls and a young boy were also hospitalised.
The man driving the truck, aged 39, was also taken to hospital.
Carolyn Elder, who started the GoFundMe campaign, said the incident had rocked the Gympie community.
Ms Elder said her daughter April and Giselle were best friends and she had formed a friendship with Jessica.
“I just can’t believe they are gone. There are no words for what loving and beautifully caring people both Jess and Giselle were,” she said.
“Jess’ family were her world. Giselle was full of life and loved having fun and being around her friends.
“Jess would do anything for anyone and loved her job as a nurse.
“It is a terrible loss to our school and Gympie community to lose two precious souls so young.”
On the campaign page she said the family were travelling to a family reunion near Toowoomba when the fatal accident occurred.
She said the fundraiser was set up to help provide for the two children – Jett, aged 10 and Oceana, aged 7 – that Jess has left behind, while Alex fights for life in hospital.
“These children have no parents left able to care for them or provide for them and the bills keep coming in,” Ms Elder wrote.
“These poor babies have had their whole world turned upside down.”
Tributes have been flowing in.
One person said: “Jess you will be missed by all of your friends and work colleagues, (I) hope all these donations help your little family in this hard time.”
“Jess was a beautiful woman and devoted to her family,” another said.
