Tragedy after car kills toddler in Townsville

A young child is dead after an horrific incident involving a car on a private property in North Queensland.

Queensland Police are investigating the sudden death of a Townsville infant who was reportedly hit by a car in a driveway on a private property.

The Queensland Ambulance Service on Monday confirmed paramedics, including critical care, were called to a property at Mount Louisa at 4pm on Sunday after a vehicle and pedestrian incident involving a young girl.

The ABC reported that an 18-month-old had been backed over by a vehicle, but neither police or ambulance services could confirm this.

The toddler was taken to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition but sadly died on Sunday night.

Investigations are ongoing.
