Specialist police probe infant’s death near Rockhampton

A two-month-old has died after being rushed to hospital after being found unconscious at a regional property.

An urgent investigation is under way into the death of an infant child found unconscious at a home in Queensland’s Rockhampton region.

Emergency services were called to a Gracemere property shortly after 11pm on Monday after reports an infant was unconscious and not breathing.

In a statement, police said the two-month-old girl had sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Rockhampton hospital before being flown to Brisbane.

Tragically, the child was pronounced dead on January 22.

A crime scene has since been established with detectives from Rockhampton Child Protection Investigation Unit and the Child Trauma Unit investigating,
