Slain schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer’s foster brother charged with burglary
The foster brother of murdered schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer, who was jailed for sexually assaulting her, is facing more criminal charges.
The foster brother of murdered Queensland schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer, who was jailed for sexually abusing her, has been charged with burglary by police just weeks after giving evidence at a coronial inquest into the girl’s death.
Trent Thorburn, the son of child killer Rick Thorburn, will face court later this month over allegations he broke into a camping store in Brisbane’s south in June.
He will face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 28, charged with one count of enter premises with intent.
It is alleged he broke into a Parkinson camping store with two others, loading tents, a swag and a gazebo into a car before fleeing.
Police investigations into the incident continue.
It comes just weeks after Trent gave evidence at a coronial inquest into Tiahleigh’s death in 2015.
The coroner found his father Rick had deliberately killed the 12-year-old and may have done so over concerns she would disclose her relationship with Trent.
In October 2015, Trent confessed to his mother Julene he had sex with Tiahleigh and feared she was pregnant.
Her decomposed body was found on the banks of the Pimpama River a month later.
Trent was jailed for four years in 2017 for one count of incest, one count of attempting to obstruct the course of justice and two counts of perjury.
After serving 16 months, his sentence was suspended for five years.
