Queensland records zero new locally acquired Covid-19 cases on Saturday

There have been no new locally acquired Covid-19 cases in Queensland on Saturday as the border shut to Victorians overnight.

Queensland has recorded zero new locally acquired cases of Covid-19 on Saturday.

There was one new overseas acquired case that was detected in hotel quarantine.

There are 39 active cases in the state.

In the past 24 hours, 14,755 tests were conducted bringing the state’s total number of tests to 3,171,704 since the pandemic began.

On Friday, there was only one reported case of community transmission and no cases in hotel quarantine.

According to Qld Health data, more than 4500 people are currently in isolation after they were issued quarantine notices.

Restrictions were eased for Townsville, Magnetic Island and Palm Island on Friday, bringing them in line with the rest of the state.

But those in 11 local government areas in southeast Queensland will need continue to abide by restrictions that include wearing face masks everywhere, having a cap of 30 visitors inside the home and a one person per 4sq m density rule applies for indoor trade at businesses.

Those local government areas are the City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Regional Council, City of Gold Coast, City of Ipswich, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City, Noosa Shire Council, Redland City, Scenic Rim Regional Council, Somerset Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

The restrictions were expected to ease at 6am on Friday but will now last for another seven days.
