A man has died shortly after an incident with security staff at a popular rooftop bar and restaurant, with police now investigating.

A man has died shortly after being restrained by security staff at a venue in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, with police now investigating the incident.

Police say their initial investigations indicate a man was asked to leave rooftop bar and restaurant Maya at about 12.20am on Monday, but resisted and was then restrained by security.

The man became unresponsive a short time later, police say.

CPR was performed but the man died at the scene.

Police have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the man’s death.
